SEAGATE GOFLEX WINDOWS 7 LIBRARIES SOFTWARE
The Seagate's software is up-to-date and I've rebooted the router. There are settings for allowing FTP and other remote applications and they're all on. I've combed through every setting in the Seagate Dashboard preferences and don't see an option for SMB or CIFS, only UPnP which is activated. Shouldn't that last bit be ip.address.of.GoFlex\whatever since that's what I'm reaching for and file paths use backslashes?

When browsing for folders, it only sees the internal Android SD structure. Without being mapped in Storage and Reset, I think Plex is blind to it. Looking on my PC's Plex Server with the web interface, it lists a folder like \GOFLEX_HOME\GoFlex Home Public\Current TV Shows but copying that over to the SHIELD's setting doesn't work, nor does \192.168.1.x\GoFlex Public Home\Current TV Shows or \192.168.1.x\GOFLEX_HOME\GoFlex Home Public\Current TV Shows and other variations. I have the IP (see above) but it doesn't matter if I add it to the folder path in setting up Plex Libraries, it doesn't actually see the folders, though it doesn't give an error it just thinks it's empty. Something like this for example: 192.168.1.x/top folder/media/movies In plex server on shield type ip followed by folder. You should be able to find that in the go flex settings, or in your router's client list. Where, in the SHIELD's mount network storage section or in Plex? When looking in the former, it shows the IP address for the detected resources (PC, router, GoFlex) along with their hostnames. When it asks for IP, you may actually need to put the IP address of the drive, not the host name. Thanks for the response, but I'm somewhat confused by your reply. A router reboot can sometimes be your friend in these situations too :) Wouldn't hurt to make sure it's up to date on software while you're at it. I hope this helps, I'll check this thread again later in case you get stuck by I don't usually check PMs so don't bother.Įdit: also, double check the goflex actually has SMB or CIFS sharing enabled, it's possible you only have UPNP functions turned on right now. If the Movies folder is in the root of the drive it would just be: ip.address.of.shield/Movies. The folder names obviously depend on what you named them, mine was just an example. The IP may also be 10.0.0.x or similar so don't worry if it's not a 192.x format. Any wisdom out there to help a brother out? TIA. I think I've got the GoFlex configured properly - I mean it's accessible to other devices as UPnP, but I'm being stonewalled by the SHIELD. Also tried the "Manually add a network storage" method and it didn't make sense what it was asking for.

I am able to see the GoFlex as a UPnP-AV device in VLC for Android (though smb shows empty folder) and consoles (XBone, PS3, etc) but it's unavailable for PMS because I can't mount it as a network drive. I have gone into the Seagate Dashboard and set both an admin account and a "ShieldPlex" account and neither ID/PW combos are working.

Guest immediately gives a Connection Failed error and the other makes me enter a name and password and tells me it's not correct. When I go to add remote storage, SHIELD sees my PC, my router and the GoFlex, offering the choice of connecting as a Guest or Registered User. With the addition of PMS to SHIELD, I was looking forward to being able to mount the drive over the LAN so I didn't need to fire up the PC sometimes I just use my laptop over on the couch to do whatnot. Prior to 3.2 coming out, to watch Plex I would connect to the Plex Server running on my main PC, but the actual library files reside in folders on a Seagate GoFlex Home hard drive which connects to my router via network cable.
